Virtual School Counseling Resources

Hello Garvey students and parents. I have updated this page to reflect the changes we are facing due to distance learning. Counseling services will still be available to our students and parents virtually at this time. Our counselors have been reaching out through email, and will continue to do so. You are also able to reach them through the emails listed below. Either counselor is available for any student but counselors are assigned as:
8th grade: Gala Tang  [email protected]
7th grade: Michelle Venegas [email protected]
CONFIDENTIALITY
Counselors will do their best to provide a safe space for students to communicate by being available through email but it is important to understand that district email may be viewed by other parties and therefore counselors are unable to provide complete confidentiality, like they would receive in the counseling office.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCY
Our counselors will be available to students during the typical school day but will not be available during the evening hours as that is the time they will be attending to their own families. Due to this, below are some resources should you have concerns for your own or another's safety.

STUDENTS, if you have concerns for a friend's safety and your counselor is not available, tell an adult you trust like a parent. Never keep quiet about concerns for your friend's safety. They are reaching out to you because they want help, so you need to reach out to a parent or other trusted adult to make sure they get the help they need.
